The Valley of the Kings and Queens are two archaeological sites located near the city of Luxor in Egypt, and are considered among the most important and famous archaeological sites in the world. They are famous for their role as the burial place of the kings and queens of ancient Egypt from the New Kingdom era (c. 1550-1070 BC).

Valley of the Kings

The Historical site  The Valley of the Kings is located on the west bank of the Nile River, and was considered an entrance to the afterlife according to ancient Egyptian beliefs.

Tombs of the Pharaohs: The valley contains more than 60 tombs carved into the limestone mountains, where the mummies of many famous pharaohs such as Ramses II and Tutankhamun were buried.

The tombs of the Valley of the Kings are distinguished by their unique design, as each tomb consists of a long corridor ending with a burial chamber, and the walls of these tombs are decorated with drawings and engravings depicting scenes from daily life and religious beliefs.

Archaeological Discoveries: The Valley of the Kings has witnessed many important archaeological discoveries, most notably the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922, which was exceptionally intact.

Valley of the Queens

Tombs of Queens and Princes: The Valley of the Queens is located a few kilometers from the Valley of the Kings, and was dedicated to the burial of queens, princes and princesses.

Despite its importance, the Valley of the Queens is less famous than the Valley of the Kings, due to the small size and number of tombs.

Recent Discoveries: The Valley of the Queens has witnessed many new archaeological discoveries in recent years, which has increased its importance as a tourist and archaeological destination.

Protection: The choice of these two valleys away from sight was aimed at protecting the tombs from theft and looting.

Geographical Nature: The nature of these two valleys is characterized by the presence of limestone rocks that facilitated the excavation and construction of tombs.
